tvN's newest romantic-comedy drama, "Shooting Stars," officially premiered, and lead actor Kim Young Dae is unfortunately receiving unfavorable feedback for his acting.
Kim Young Dae Receives Criticism Over His Performance in 'Shooting Stars'
Lee Sung Kyung and Kim Young Dae made a small screen return with "Shooting Stars" on April 22. K-drama fans were excited for their first team up.
However, some viewers were disappointed after witnessing the male lead Kim Young Dae's acting in the first two episodes.
"Shooting Stars" marks the actor's first drama following the megahit SBS series "Penthouse," where he was lauded for his excellent portrayal of Joo Seok Hoon. But unlike his previous role, Kim Young Dae is getting criticism for his acting in his new character.
Fans compare his acting in "Penthouse" to his comeback drama "Shooting Stars." Some even say his performance has not improved much. Others comment his acting is dull compared to female lead Lee Sung Kyung and some screaming scenes seem familiar with Young Dae's parts in "Penthouse."
'Shooting Stars' Fails To Achieve High Ratings With Episodes 1 and 2
Apart from the negative reviews, tvN's "Shooting Stars" also failed to earn high viewership ratings. According to source, episode 1 only recorded an average rating of 1.6 percent while episode 2 has 1.8 percent rating.
However, despite the low ratings, viewers still look forward to the story's progress.
Opposite to the criticism the male lead star receives, female lead Lee Sung Kyung is praised for her acting as she plays the role of Oh Han Byeol, PR head in the famous Star Force Entertainment.

Another issue that the drama faces is that the story concept is not new to the audience. Centered it's story to the lives of celebrities behind the glitz and glamor is already familiar to viewers and not highly appealing today.

Meanwhile, one interesting fact in the series is that former "Vincenzo" co-stars Kim Yoon Hye and Yoon Byung Hee appear in "Shooting Stars."
Kim Yoon Hye plays the role of Park Ho Young, Oh Han Byeol's (Lee Sung Kyung) friend and colleague. Yoon Byung Hee, on the other hand, portrays the character as one of the charity group volunteers.
It is also expected that lots of Korean stars are scheduled to make special appearances in the Friday-Saturday drama.
