For years, IU has been sharing her blessings and making meaningful donations to the less fortunate.
This year, as the "Hotel del Luna" star turns 29, she is continuing her birthday tradition by reaching out to children, youth, and single-parent families
IU Donates Million of Won to Various Charity
In a report cited by SpoTV News, the "Strawberry Moon" songstress gave 210 million KRW or around 164,000 USD to various charities.
As revealed by IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, her donation covers Snail of Love, the Korean Single Mothers Family Association, Eden Iville, and the social welfare corporation Chang Inwon to celebrate her special day.
Moreover, the talent label also shared that IU's birthday donation will be used for treatments such as surgery expenses for children and adolescents who are hearing impaired.
Meanwhile, single-parent families will receive support, especially those who are experiencing financial hardship and those who need childcare and disability protection facilities.
In addition, the label also shared this on their official Instagram account alongside a heartfelt caption wishing all Uaenas enjoy the warmth of May."
To recall, IU, whose real name is Lee Ji Eun, has been celebrating her birthday by giving out donations for quite some time.
In 2021, she celebrated her birthday by giving 500 million won or approximately $440,800, to different charities and foundations.
It includes Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Korean Unwed Mothers' Families Association, The Purme Foundation, Child Welfare Association, YEOULDOL, and Comprehensive Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone.

At the time, her agency, as obtained by Dispatch Korea, revealed that the singer-actress wanted to repay the love and support from her fans, known as Uaenas.

IU's New Movie
Apart from her special day, IU will be attending her first-ever Cannes Film Festival 2022 alongside veteran actor Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, bae Doona and Lee Joo Young after "broker" was selected among the contenders at the prestigious Palme D'Or.
IU's new movie is directed by the renowned Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Koreeda, which is also his first Korean film.
The 29-year-old multi-talented star will be portraying Soo Young, who is set to make the most heartbreaking decision of her life.
"Broker" is IU's second big-screen debut after the 2021 movie "Shades of the Heart."
Moreover, she is also booked and busy these past few months as IU recently wrapped up her upcoming film with Park Seo Joon titled "Dream."
