"Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk spills more secrets regarding the much-awaited season 2.

As the Netflix series continues its popularity with never-ending recognitions and achievements, the creator behind the blockbuster series teases fans with updates regarding the sequel.

The renowned filmmaker continues to update viewers with their plan with "Squid Game" season 2.

Although he previously admitted that the first season gave them pressure to produce a sequel with the same intensity as the first one, Hwang Dong Hyuk shared that he is in the process of producing the storyline for the sequel.

"There's been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!" he said, as obtained by Variety.

To recall, Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that the survival-themed series will "definitely" return but wants to give further details regarding its target release.

Now, Hwang Dong Hyuk says fans will have to wait until late 2023 or 2024, hinting at the "Squid Game" season 2 release.

During his interview with Vanity Fair, the South Korean filmmaker spoke about updates regarding the highly anticipated K-drama.

Trying to keep mum about further details, Hwang Dong Hyuk said, "the second season of 'Squid Game' could be out by the end of 2023 or 2024. I only have about three pages worth of ideas that I plan to turn into a script, so there isn't much I can say."

However, he kept fans excited after assuring them that the upcoming sequel would feature "more games," which means more death-defying scenes for viewers.

In addition, the 50-year-old director has once again mentioned the characters who will be reprising their roles, referring to Lee Jung Jae's character.

"Humanity is going to be put to the test through those games once again. Ki-hun is definitely coming back, though," he added.

Hwang Dong Hyuk previously revealed that Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun, who plays the role of The Frontman, will return in "Squid Game" season 2.

It is safe to say that the sequel might focus on The Frontman's identity before entering the organization and what prompted him to join the deadly game.

'Squid Game' Cast Shares What They Hoped for Season 2

On the other hand, the cast also dishes out their thoughts on the upcoming season.

As noted by SBS News, Jung Ho Yeon, who plays North Korean defector Kang Sae Byeok, wants to see Seong Gi Hun "to have a happier life," adding, "It would be great to have an amusement park, with stations for the different games."

Meanwhile, Lee Jung Jae commented that he wants Sae Byeok to return with a twin sister.
