While some stars earned national titles from their fans, these Korean celebrities gained uncanny nicknames.
Whether it's from their childhood, a name given because of their status, or family background, these K-drama stars are also known for their odd monikers.
Kang Dong Won
Before his fame as a versatile actor and appearing at the Cannes Film festival for his drama "Broker," Kang Dong Won was also called "tuna" by some.
It is because his family owns one of South Korea's largest canned tuna producers and his father is also the Vice President of PP Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., which is among the biggest shipbuilding companies worldwide.

Apart from being compared to Hollywood's The Rock because of their similar physiques, Ma Dong Seok also has a surprising nickname.
