Interestingly, her short film "Dark Yellow" made it as one of the competitors at prestigious Japan's Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2022.

The said competition is the Academy Awards-accredited film festival focusing on Asian short films.

Goo Hye Sun Made a Thoughtful Donation to Support her Alma Mater

The "Boys Over Flower Star" decides to share her blessings and donate the entire prize she got at Japan's Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2022.

Over Goo Hye Sun's Instagram, she revealed that the money will be donated to a school's fund campaign.

"I received the 'Audience Award' prize at the 24th International Short Shorts Film Festival," she wrote. She added, "When I heard the news that there were students who couldn't get their education due to the economic hardship, I donated to my alma mater, Sungkyunkwan University's 'Senior Love Learning Support Fund, Senior Shoots Campaign."

The actress-director is currently studying at the university's Department of Imaging, where she honed her skills as a filmmaker.

On the other hand, Newsis also shared the statement of Goo Hye Sun's agency IOK Company, confirming that she has donated the entire prize to her alma mater.

The representative of the talent label said that Goo Hye Sun wants the money to be used "more meaningfully" and after hearing the plight of the students who were "skipping their studies due to difficult economic conditions" the actress "expressed his intention to donate."

After being under the radar, Goo Hye Sun focused on making short films with her latest project, "Dark Yellow."

It follows the story of a woman who works at a yellow flower shop and unexpectedly meets a mysterious man who becomes obsessed with her.

"Dark Yellow" cast includes Goo Hye Sun as one of the lead stars alongside "Sweet Revenge" season 2 star Ahn Seo Hyun.

The short film was her comeback since the 2017 short film "Father's Sword" and also her ninth project as a director.

Besides competing at Japan's Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2022, "Dark Yellow" debuted at the 2021 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

According to the Korea Times, Goo Hye Sun shared that she purposefully wanted to create a film about women.

"By making this film, I wanted to understand both women and men. In addition, I wanted to deal with subjects such as our inferiority complex and vulnerabilities," she explained.

Apart from "Dark Yellow," she is also planning to direct a documentary about the new-age of music.
