"Carter" director Jung Byung Gil talks about the overwhelming response of the public and the possibility of the action movie returning for a sequel.
As obtained by E Daily, the director, who is also behind movies "Action Boys," "Confession of Murder" and "The Villainess" spills secrets behind his latest film.
Director Dishes Out Secrets Behind Joo Won's Naked Scene 'Carter'
Apart from the death-defying stunts and electrifying car chases, one of the most surprising and somehow remarkable moments in the movie was the bathhouse scene.
It also featured Joo Won's stunning physique which is a result of his four months of intense training.
During the interview, the director revealed that it was supposed to be a simple scene. He explained that initially, they wanted to illustrate someone being tortured after Carter, played by the lead star barged into a bathhouse.
"While hunting for a place, I found a waste bath, and I took a shooting match of a bathhouse in my favorite SF movie scenario" the director explained how he managed to transform it into an unforgettable scene.
Moreover, the director also asked the actors and stuntmen if they could do it bare which they agreed and gladly said yes.
In addition, Jung Byung Gil also mentioned Joo Won's reaction upon learning that the scene will require him to be naked.
"I had worked out a lot for the shoot, but my bare body action was refreshing," the actor told the director.

In the first scene, it can be recalled that Carter woke up from a nap feeling lost about his past and was clueless about his identity. He was surprised to see a pool of blood in his room and was surrounded by armed men.
Still puzzled with everything around him, a voice instructed him to get off the building before it blew up; this is where Carter ended up in a bathhouse, surrounded by naked goons.
'Carter' Director on Using Experimental Technical Effects
Besides "Carter" delivering impressive stunts and action scenes, another noticeable thing about the movie was its technicality in visuals.
According to the director, he focused on having various camera angles and even had a stuntman running with a camera.
While some of the reviews say "Carter" feels like a game, Jung Byung Gil revealed that the movie was heavily influenced by games.
"I don't currently play the game, but the tension and fun of the game I felt since I was a child was unconsciously projected into the movie," he explained.
In addition, the director shared that a famous game developer, Hideo Kojima, had the same response upon watching the Netflix movie.
Currently, "Carter" is among the most-watched films on the streaming platform.
According to Flix Patrol, Joo Won's new movie ranked second in Netflix's top 10 for five consecutive days and the number one movie in 16 countries.
Will 'Carter' Get Return for Season 2?
The director was also asked regarding his thoughts on season 2. He mentioned that if given a chance, the story will feature different countries like China and Russia.
In addition, he will also highlight Carter's past.
"Or, I am thinking about opening up a number of cases, such as the story of North Korea where Carter started spying," the director added.
