After 32 years of acting and bagging countless recognitions, Song Kang Ho headlines his first-ever K-drama "Uncle Samsik."
The renowned South Korean star has been a household name in the entertainment industry for decades after starring in various notable films. Interestingly, the 55-year-old top star will be having his K-drama debut.
Song Kang Ho Makes K-drama Debut With 'Uncle Samsik'
According to a media outlet, Song Kang Ho is confirmed to lead the cast of the upcoming drama series "Uncle Samsik."
Helmed by "Woman, Man" and "Cassiopeia" and "One Win" director Shin Yeon Shick, the story focuses on a passionate desire and bromance between Samsik and Kim San, who survived the war in the early 1960s.
Moreover, "Uncle Samsik" is set to deliver a story of love, faith, and friendship between two fictional characters.
In the same report, production company Slingshot Studio shared that Song Kang Ho's K-drama debut will be a 10-part episode featuring the colorful narrative of uncle Samsik.
"It is expected that actor Song Kang-ho will breathe life into such a character," the production company added.
Following the announcement regarding the drama lead, officials are yet to confirm the cast lineup and target release date for "Uncle Samsik."
Interestingly, the upcoming K-drama is a reunion project between Song Kang Ko and the director as the renowned actor stars in his new movie "One Win."

The sports-themed film depicts the story of volleyball coach Kim Woo Jin, played by Song Kang Ho, who never won a single match in his career.
Joining the award-winning stars are Park Jung Min, and Lee Min Ji. Lee Jung Young and "Money Heist Korea" actors Jang Yoon Ju and Park Myung Hoon.
Song Kang Ho As South Korea's Pride
Debuting in 1996, Song Kang Ho only focuses on making films but never fails to deliver outstanding and blockbuster movies, just like the award-winning "Parasite."
The Bong Joon Ho-directed film becomes the first non-English language movie to ever win the best picture at the prestigious Oscar.
Apart from it, Song Kang Ho once again wowed viewers with his impressive performance in the star-studded movie "Broker."
Competing at Cannes Film Festival 2022's Palme d'Or, the 55-year-old star bagged Best Actor and made history as the first Korean male actor to win the said recognition.
In his acceptance speech, he expressed deep felt gratitude to his co-stars and the "Broker" director.
I deeply thank our great artist, Hirokazu Koreeda. And I would like to share this honor with Gang Dong-won, IU, Lee Joo-young, and Bae Doona who worked together (in the film)," he said, as obtained by an outlet.
Moreover, he also dedicated his win to his family who came to Cannes to support his movie.
"I dedicate the honor of this trophy and the endless love (to them)," he added.
Following his breakthrough performance in "Broker," Song Kang Ho also starred in "Emergency Declaration" which also premiered at Cannes Film Festival back in 2021 but was only released in theaters this August 3.
