While Ha Jung Woo and the rest of the cast and crew of "Narco-Saints" rejoice as they achieve milestones just a week after its release, many viewers are not impressed with the work, including the Minister of Suriname. Here's why!
'Narco-Saints' Under Fire for Defamation
Ha Jung Woo's "Narco-Saints" has proved its efficiency as a crime and suspense drama as it hooked fans from all over the world since its release.
The series follows the story of an ordinary man who gets involved with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) in taking down the biggest drug syndicate in Suriname.
While it enjoys its blockbuster reign in the Hallyu scene, some viewers are not impressed with the work, including Albert Ramdin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname.
He expressed his strong distaste for the Netflix series for its implication that the country is a drug den and mecca of crime.

The representative stated, "Suriname is not a land of drugs nor any syndicate. We are doing our best to improve the image of our country, but Netflix pervades the negative image of Suriname through "Narco-Saints."
Minister Albert Ramdin also added that the administration will take legal action against "Narco-Saints" for defamation, describing the country as a drug-related place.
Suriname will officially write a complaint to the United States ambassador in South Korea, and will hold the production of "Narco-Saints" accountable.
