Lee Jung Jae Made History at the Emmys 2022

The South Korean star flew to the U.S after he was nominated at the prestigious 74th Primetime Emmy Awards along with Hollywood's top stars Bob Odenkirk ("Better Call Saul,") Jason Bateman ("Ozark,") Brian Cox, and Jeremy Strong ("Succession) and Adam Scott ("Severance.")

Interestingly, Lee Jung Jae took home another win, giving pride to South Korea after bagging the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards 2022, making him the first Asian actor to win the title.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, and dearest fans adding "I want to share this joy with you."

Apart from Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, "Squid Game" also won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, where Hwang Dong Hyuk beat fellow directors of "Ozark," "Severance," "Succession," and "Yellowjackets."

Interestingly, the said title was the first-ever win for a non-English language drama.

Like Lee Jung Jae, the South Korean director took the opportunity to thank everyone who supported the show.

However, the director delivered an interesting speech after he pointed out that instead of him making history, the supporters and viewers "opened up the doors for 'Squid Game,' inviting us here tonight at the Emmys."

"I have to say we all made history together. I truly hope that 'Squid Game' won't be the last non-English series to be here at the Emmys," he added.

He wrapped up the speech by hoping that it will not be his last Emmys as "Squid Game" will be back for season 2.
