Lee Kyu Hyung will be teaming up with Song Kang Ho in the upcoming K-drama "Uncle Samik."
In a report cited by Sports Worldi, the 38-year-old star has confirmed his appearance and will be joining the award-winning actor for his first ever tv series.
According to the media outlet, a representative from "Uncle Samik" shared that "Lee Kyu Hyung, who was ranked first in the casting stage, has confirmed his appearance."
With this, the "Prison Playbook" star will be among the main characters of "Uncle Samsik" and will play the role of Kang Seong Min.
With his versatility and acting prowess, viewers will get to see Lee Kyu Hyung creating a tense interaction with Sam Sik, played by Song Kang Ho.
In addition, one of the main characters is Byun Yo Han who took on the role of Kang San.
'Uncle Samsik' Release Date and What We Know So Far
Helmed and written by Shin Yeon Shick of "If You Were Me 7" and "Romans 8:37" movies, "Uncle Samsik" depicts a bromance of Uncle Sam Sik and Kim San, who were among the survivors during Korea's tumultuous time in the early 1960s.
The life drama illustrates the struggles of the two fictional characters who lived in opposite status but were bounded by their connection, a story of love and faith.
While the drama officials have unveiled the main cast, "Uncle Sam Sik" will be produced as a 10-part episode K-drama series.
However, its target release date, broadcasting channels, platforms, and programming are still under discussion.
On the other hand, Slingshot Studio, the production company that will be handling the new drama gave hints at what to expect in Song Kang Ho's first K-drama.
"Needless to say, it is expected that actor Song Kang Ho will breathe life into this character with exuberance. We will produce and present a high-quality well-made drama to the viewers," the production company said as noted by an outlet.
As mentioned, "Uncle Samsik" will be Song Kang Ho's debut on the small screen despite being in the industry for 32 years and scoring countless recognitions and awards, with his latest was at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 for making history as the first male South Korean star who won Best Actor award.
