Despite its promising narrative, the newly premiered court series "One Dollar Lawyer" stirs the global entertainment scene with its controversies.
Starring Namgoong Min and Kim Ji Eun, the series follows the story of an unconventional yet efficient lawyer whose legal consultation fee only amounts to a dollar.
During its premiere, "One Dollar Lawyer" received a highly impressive score of 8.2%, followed by its second episode that recorded a nationwide rating of 8.5%.
Without a doubt, the quirky court series instantly hooked viewers with its intriguing yet lighthearted storyline.
However, issues resurface, stirring the entire Hallyu scene. Namgoong Min's comeback drama was put under the microscope for plagiarizing the 2016 series "Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho."
It was revealed that the newly premiered drama was originally scheduled to air six years ago but was postponed due to the plagiarism issue, strengthening speculations.

During the cross-examination processes, it was confirmed that the two court dramas shared the same plot and several dialogues.
Screenwriter Choi Soo Jin denied all accusations, saying that his work has nothing to do with the other. Any similarities from the said work was purely coincidental.
Thankfully, the issues were resolved without involving the court. The drama "Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho" then became a huge hit, drawing the highest viewership rating of 17%.
What Will Happen To 'One Dollar Lawyer'?
As clarity and reassurance were given to fans, "One Dollar Lawyer" is expected to receive more support and love from viewers all over the world.
Namgoong Min's comeback series kicked off with impressive scores, heralding a new promising work that can be compared to previous court series such as "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," "Doctor Lawyer" and more.
In particular, the actor's quirky character, which was very different from his role in "The Veil," attracts attention, showcasing a different side of him that fans have never seen before.
"One Dollar Lawyer" is expected to use its momentum and continue reeling in prospective viewers that will tune in the drama until its conclusion.
