Kim Min Jae, Kim Hyang Gi, and Kim Sang Kyung led K-drama "Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist" wrapped up the season with a surprising announcement.
Despite struggling to keep the ratings up, the historical K-drama almost hit its new personal best after scoring an average nationwide rating of 5.1 percent for its 12th episode, which is quite close to the drama's all-time high of 5.2 percent.
Interestingly, viewers were surprised to hear that "Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist" will return with Season 2 in January 2023.
In a behind-the-scenes video, the cast members shared their thoughts about the upcoming season.
What to Expect in 'Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist' Season 2
During the last filming day of the historical K-drama, Kim Min Jae, who plays the titular role says he feels the same despite wrapping up the season since they will return with a sequel.
"Because we will film Season 2 in a week," he said, adding that he loves the connection of the whole team and felt like they are "a big family."
Very warm, loud, and fun memories [from the set] will remain deeply. I'm hoping that many, many more of those images will appear in Season 2," he added.
At the height of the historical K-drama, Kim Sang Kyung starred in the drama film "Toxic" along with Lee Sun Bin, Seo Young Hee, and more.
He is also rumored to return as senior physician Kye Ji Han in "Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist" season 2.
