"Dr. Romantic 3" writer Kang Eun Kyung talked about the surprise appearances of Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin, as well as the public's demand for season 4.
As expected, the medical K-drama delivered a top-notch season as the legendary surgeon, Kim Sa Bu (Han Suk Kyu) featured heartwarming stories along with the Doldam family and its patients.
On top of it, viewers saw the character growth of Cha Eun Jae and Seo Woo Jin, played by Lee Sung Kyung and Ahn Hyo Seop.
Although "Dr. Romantic 3" officially ended, screenwriter Kang Eun Kyung, who also helmed the series "Where Stars Land" and the upcoming K-drama "Gyeongseong Creature," revealed the reason behind Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin's appearance.
Why 'Dr. Romantic 3' Writer Kang Eun Kyung Included Yoo Yeon Seok, Seo Hyun Jin in Sequel
In an interview with a media outlet, the renowned screenwriter shared that Yoo Yeon Seok's cameo was planned during the initial preparation of season 3. With the actor reprising his role as Dr. Kang Dong Joo, it brought an "essential" element "to complete the outstanding-disciple project picture that Teacher Kim dreamed of."
To recall, Kim Sa Bu's lifelong dream was to build a trauma center to cater to more patients. In season 3, Cha Jin Man, a hotshot city-based doctor, played by Lee Kyung Young, was introduced as the Trauma Center head but stepped down to his position because of an incident.
The second part of the drama featured Dr. Kang returning to Doldam as the interim head of the new center.
