Son Seok Koo responded to criticism by Nam Myung Ryul regarding his "fake acting" comment.
"The Roundup" star made headlines after he was publicly slammed by the veteran actor about his remark, revealing the reason why he quit theater acting.
Son Seok Koo's 'Fake Acting' Remark Sparks Anger from Fellow Actor
Back in June, Seon Seok Koo attended the press conference for the stage play "Army on the Tree," where he spoke about focusing on film and television instead of theater.
"The script asks for love to be whispered, but if you do that, they should give you a microphone," he said, as he referred to his then-upcoming play.
He added, "I think it's fake acting when they tell you you can't whisper on stage, though."
However, it seemed like Nam Myung Ryul didn't like the phrase "fake acting" and called Son Seok Koo "arrogant" in his Facebook post.
"Truly, you should be thinking about how to make 350 audience members hear you even if you whisper in your acting," he furthered.
Moreover, the senior actor pointed out that Son Seok Koo could have said on-screen acting was "more of his preference" than theater.
Wrapping up the post, he added, "There are plenty of actors who can fill up a 350-seat theater with their voices. It's absurd to define what real acting is if all acting is about playing fictional characters."
Weeks after the bombshell reaction from Nam Myung Ryul, the "D.P." star appeared on JTBC's "Newsroom" to clarify the controversies.
Son Seok Ko Apologizes to Nam Myung Ryul Through Handwritten Letter
According to a media outlet, when asked about his reaction to the senior actor's sentiment regarding his comment, Son Seok Koo explained his side.
He admitted that during his rookie years in acting, he felt "pressured to conform to certain standardized acting approaches while striving to become a good actor."
However, he mentioned that as he looked back, he realized that it was due to his "immaturity" and "stubbornness at the time."
"However, this experience became the driving force behind the realization that I should have my own style," he said, adding that this has been his deal-breaker when choosing roles now.
