Director Reveals Story Behind Rowoon's Unexpected Appearance in 'A Time Called You'

Rowoon's appearance in "A Time Called You" may be short, but indeed made an impression. He played the role of Tae Ha, Koo Yeon Jun's best friend and love interest in the series.

In an interview, the drama's director Kim Jin Won revealed the reason for casting the idol-actor.

According to Kim PD'nim, he put a lot of thought into making the scene work. For him, the intended chemistry would only come out if Ahn Hyo Seop, who played Yeon Jun, should be portrayed by an actor with whom he is comfortable interacting emotionally.

Little did many know, that Ahn Hyo Seop and Rowoon are actually close friends in real life. Director Kim then asked the "Business Proposal" star who is the actor he is close with and at that time a sad story immediately came up on the spot.

Ahn Hyo Seop mentioned Rowoon, and immediately contacted "The King's Affection" star through his agency and asked if a specific kind of role is okay for him to play.

Luckily, despite Rowoon's jam-packed schedule, he willingly agreed to appear in the project but did not want to receive any talent fee.

Instead, the heartthrob asked Ahn Hyo Seop to send a food truck under his name in exchange for his appearance fee.

While filming he continued to discuss with them and wondered whether there was a chance for them to exhibit a different yet affectionate chemistry on screen.

Adding to the fun of working together, the director shared that after Rowoon and Ahn Hyo Seop acted on each other's emotions during their scenes, the two yelled at each other for being cringey.

After they held hands they threw each other's hand right away and shared how pleasant the filming atmosphere was at that time.

Director Kim remarked that Ahn Hyo Seop and Rowoon trusted each other and did the scenes with affection and left a lasting impression on viewers.
