Amid the huge success of Netflix's "Doona," Yang Se Jong is receiving negative responses over his appearance in the series.
Taking on the role of Lee Won Joon, the 30-year-old actor transforms into an engineering student who lives in a shared apartment with other university students.
Interestingly, this is also where he meets Lee Doona, a former K-pop star, played by Bae Suzy.
Yang Se Jong's Weight Gain Sparks Criticism From Viewers
In the 9-episode K-drama, Yang Se Jong looked noticeably different from his past dramas.
The actor played a rookie doctor named Do In Bum in the hit series "Doctor Romantic," which happens to be his first K-drama role.
In addition, he also took on the lead roles in "Duel," "Temperature of Love," "Thirty But Seventeen," and more.
As for "Doona," it was Yang Se Jong's first project after completing his military service.
Unfortunately, the 30-year-old actor is hit with harsh comments from netizens criticizing his appearance.

In a post mentioned by an online portal, users were spewing hate on Yang Se Jong's visuals, especially his weight gain.
Among the comments is one comparing him to fellow actors like Song Kang and Cha Eun Woo, who "are managing themselves so well."
Yang Se Jong Talks About His Transformation for 'Doona'
During the press conference, he gets honest and says that he feels more pressure to appear in front of the media than to return to the set to film the series.
As for joining "Doona," he mentioned the preparations he made for the movie.
Other than his scripts, Yang Se Jong said that he made a lot of efforts looking after his appearance.
"As for the efforts I put into my looks, I will be honest about it since I had already discussed it during a previous interview," he said, as obtained by SBS Star, adding, "I've had laser hair removal for my mustache. It was painful. I've also taken many lower body baths and used a lot of sheet masks."
Besides taking care of his skin and facial features, Yang Se Jong also mentioned the weight gain and weight loss he experienced during and after the filming.
"Now, I weigh about 3 kg (about 2.2 pounds) more than I did when shooting the series," the actor mentioned.
Yang Se Jong also mentioned a disclaimer regarding his physique and said, "But please don't worry. I've seen the tapes, and trust me, I don't look as chubby as I do now in 'Doona!'"
Currently, "Doona" is getting an overwhelming response from the public, noting the undeniable on-screen chemistry between Bae Suzy and Yang Se Jong.
Following the unexpected cliffhanger in the end, viewers are looking forward to seeing the series with a sequel.
On the other hand, "Doona" is currently ranked 5th in the Netflix global top 10 TV shows, showing how people enjoyed and were delighted to see the webtoon-based K-drama come to life.
