Song Kang Ho's First K-drama Might Air on Disney+
News regarding the award-winning actor's K-drama debut, "Uncle Samsik," is expected to air on Disney+.
32 years after his acting debut, the Oscar-winning star lands his first ever small-screen project.
"Uncle Samsik" depicts the bromance between Uncle Sam Sik, played by the veteran actor, and Kim San, portrayed by Byun Yo Han.
Their unlikely friendship resurfaced after surviving the turbulent period of the early 1960s in South Korea.
In the upcoming K-drama, Song Kang Ho will work alongside director Shin Yeon Sik.
"Uncle Samsik" is their reunion project after the movie "Cobweb" and the upcoming film "One Win."
As mentioned by a media outlet, Song Kang Ho's first K-drama will be under the production of Slingshot Studio, hinting that the forthcoming drama series "has a diverse narrative."
In addition, the 10-episode K-drama will feature Song Kang Ho's different side as an actor as he plays the titular role.
"Needless to say, it is expected that actor Song Kang Ho will breathe life into this character with exuberance. We will produce and present a high-quality well-made drama to the viewers."
As viewers await the final announcement regarding the release date and network, they will also be seeing a slew of amazing actors join the series.
Other than Song Kang Ho and Byun Yo Han, the "Uncle Samsik" cast includes Lee Kyu Hyung, Jin Ki Joo of "My Perfect Stranger," and Seo Hyun Woo as lead stars.
Initially set to air in the second half of 2023, the officials have yet to confirm the show's broadcast date.
