2023 might be a challenging year for Jeon Hye Jin after her husband, Lee Sun Kyun, became involved in a drug controversy.
However, it seems like the upcoming year will be a fruitful one for the actress as she might star in a new drama.
Jeon Hye Jin Offered to Star With Yoo Seung Ho in 'I Am Home'
In a report, the 47-year-old actress was selected to headline the upcoming K-drama "I Am Home."
Following the news regarding the new series, Jeon Hye Jin's agency, HODU&U Entertainment, confirmed that the actress received an offer and is positively reviewing it.
If the actress officially confirms to join the series, she will work alongside Yoo Seung Ho, who was also offered to play a lead role in "I Am Home."
Based on the Japanese series "Home Drama," the upcoming Korean adaptation depicts the story of a group of people who become a family despite not being related by blood.
Another common denominator among them is that they share the same expenses, making them easier to relate to each other.
The premise of the story focuses on individuals who experienced the loss of a loved one and were gathered in a vacation spot where they could share a sense of pain.
"I Am Home" will be under the direction of Ra Ha Na, who worked with "Green Mothers' Club" and the 2022 drama "Tinted With You."
Besides Jeon Hye Jin and Yoo Seung Go, the upcoming drama series also features veteran actress Na Moon Hee, who appeared in "Navillera."
Jeon Hye Jin Faces Consequences Amid Husband Lee Sun Kyun's Drug Ordeal
Prior to the K-drama offer, Jeon Hye Jin and her husband, Lee Sun Kyun, faced a challenging situation after the actor was embroiled in allegations of drug use.
Due to this, Lee Sun Kyun underwent an investigation and underwent a series of tests to prove the claims against him.
Unfortunately, the attention shifted towards Jeon Hye Jin, who put her singing career on hold to support her husband's acting.
Per reports, a 2014 interview resurfaced after the actress appeared as a guest in SBS' "Healing Camp," where she jokingly talked about the sacrifices she made for their family.
"You drink and do what you will, while I suppress all my desires, so much so that I've forgotten the name Jeon Hye Jin. Nothing remains of what was the actress in me."
Unfortunately, with the controversy, the celebrity couple is likely to face advertising penalties for breach of contract for their ongoing endorsements.
At the height of the issue, the advertising industry reportedly pulled down all endorsements featuring the actor and even his wife.
As mentioned by a news outlet, Kim Heon Sik, a pop culture critic who appeared on YTN, said that brands are very reactive when it comes to these types of controversy.
