Yoo Ah In had a brief interaction with the media ahead of his first trial.
As the award-winning star faced a continued investigation regarding his involvement with illegal drug use, the "Chicago Typewriter" star arrived at the Seoul Central District Court on December 12 to participate in the ongoing proceedings.
Yoo Ah In, Once Again, Expresses Apology
Wearing an all-black suit, the actor and his acquaintance, Mr. Choi, also being questioned regarding the violation of the narcotics act, appeared in front of the media to express their thoughts about the probe.
In news obtained by a media outlet, Yoo Ah In said that he "will face it faithfully," referring to the court's decision.
Moreover, the actor also assured the public that he would "participate faithfully in the trial process," adding that he would give all the explanations as best he could.
Yoo Ah In also took the opportunity to apologize to colleagues, fans, and those who were negatively affected by his actions.
"I sincerely apologize once again to those who were greatly disappointed and suffered a lot of damage because of me."
As the trial was about to start, Yoo Ah In refused to answer the media's questions pertaining to admitting the charges.
The first trial was rescheduled from November to December 12 after Yoo Ah In's legal team asked the court for a few weeks of delay to properly sort things out on their end.
The "Seoul Vibe" star is under investigation for violating the Narcotics Control Act and was accused of habitually administering propofol 181 times from September 2020 to March 2022.
In addition to this, authorities also found out that the award-winning actor illegally prescribed and purchased 1,100 doses of sleeping pills 44 times using someone else's name between May 2021 and August 2022.
The police also suspected Yoo Ah In of instigating the destruction of evidence.
Yoo Ah In's Drama 'Goodbye Earth' Still on Pause
Amid the update regarding Yoo Ah In's drug case, his K-drama "Goodbye Earth" will reportedly air in April 2024.
A news outlet mentioned that officials are looking into releasing the series after being delayed due to the actor's controversy.
However, Netflix clarified the news, noting that "Goodbye Earth" is still under discussion.
"The release schedule for 'Goodbye Earth' has not been determined. It is temporarily postponed."
The upcoming series is just one of his projects that were put on hold due to the issue.
"The Match" will also star the actor who shared the same fate as "Goodbye Earth."
Meanwhile, the Netflix original series also stars Ahn Eun Jin as one of the main characters. It depicts the story of individuals who struggle to survive in a chaotic situation following the approaching doomsday.
