Lee Sun Kyun's agency, HODU&U Entertainment, announced its plans to take legal action for the false rumors against the late actor.
Following the tragic death of the 48-year-old star, the label cited their awareness regarding the negative news about the "Parasite" actor.
Lee Sun Kyun's Agency Files Complaint Against Reporter for Spreading False Information
According to a report, HODU&U Entertainment released a statement mentioning that they "have initiated the process of collecting relevant data while concurrently taking legal action."
The agency shared that they filed a complaint on January 2 "against a reporter who disseminated false information." It was on the night that the "Pasta" star was found unconscious at a parking lot in Seoul.
Other than the complaint, HODU&U Entertainment also seeks a sincere apology and to participate in the ensuing legal process.
In addition to this, Lee Sun Kyun's agency expressed disheartenment as media outlets showed malicious and indiscriminate reporting for the past three months after the actor got involved in a controversy.
Amid this, HODU&U Entertainment is seeking a fair investigation by the authorities as the probe continues.
As of now, the talent label said that they "are now committed to directly correcting the facts one by one."
Lastly, as for the false rumors that are all over the internet, the agency said that they are "requesting the correction and removal of all online articles" that contain "unclear sources or those reported without proper fact-checking."
Details on Lee Sun Kyun's Death
As mentioned, the public and the industry mourn the passing of Lee Sun Kyun following his death on December 27.
It was after the "Dr. Brain" star was found dead inside a parked car in Seoul.
Authorities believe that it was suicide after Lee Sun Kyun's wife, Jeon Hye Jin, found a message that was similar to a suicide note.
It was during his trial regarding his alleged involvement with illegal drugs.
Despite his public apology and participation in the legal proceedings, Lee Sun Kyun faced a hefty fine due to the penalties incurred for the advertisement fees and setbacks due to the scandal.
Following Lee Sun Kyun's death, several celebrities paid tribute to the actor.
Lee Jung Jae, Jung Woo Sung, "Parasite" director Bong Joon Ho, Park Sung Woong, Cho Jin Woong, Oh Na Ra, Moon Geun Young, and more were among the stars who paid their last respects.
Jeon Hye Jin and their two sons, aged 14 and 12, led the funeral procession as Lee Sun Kyun was laid to rest.
The late actor has a 20-year career in show business and is known for his movies like "Parasite" and hit K-dramas like "Pasta," "Dr. Brain," and "Coffee Prince."
