Chu Young Woo welcomes 2024 as a highly regarded actor after receiving major recognition at the 2023 KBS Drama Awards.
However, he's also been the subject of criticisms following his win. Here's what happened. Read on to know more.
Chu Young Woo Under Fire For Denying BL Works
On December 31, 2023, the artists and works that grace prime time in the past year received much-deserved recognition at the 2023 KBS Drama Awards.
"It only reveals his queerphobia," replied a fan. Chu Young Woo was also compared to ZEROBASEONE Kim Ji Woong who proudly introduced himself as a "former BL actor."
Some fans give Chu Young Woo the benefit of the doubt as it must be an "honest mistake," and that he must have forgotten to mention his debut drama due to nervousness.

El post no es mío, pero que desagradable persona el BL le dio la oportunidad y espero que también se la quite, es estúpido avergonzase de tu trabajo. #seriesbl #bl

Bby! There is this actor called Choo Young Woo who started his career by acting in a KBL (You Make Me Dance). As he started getting more recognition in the mainstream, he tried to erase the fact that he was once in a BL project. 😔

While this polarized the public opinion, it's no doubt that Chu Young Woo did an excellent job in portraying his acting roles in every drama he stars in including the BL work "You Make Me Dance."
On the other hand, Chu Young Woo is preparing for his forthcoming K-dramas "Mrs. Ok," "Mercy For None" and "The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call," which will all air some time this year.
