Kim Ji Hoon Becomes the Newest ‘Hot Villain’ of K-drama After Joining ‘Death’s Game’

Kim Ji Hoon talks about his experience portraying the villain in "Death's Game 2."

The webcomic adaptation, which stars Seo In Guk and Park So Dam, depicts the story of a man who decides to take his own life after experiencing personal and career setbacks.

However, he finds himself confronted by death and has to experience it over and over again.

In the two-part drama, Kim Ji Hoon took on the role of the villain, Park Tae Woo.

He is the first son and CEO of Taekang Group and a double-faced psychopath with violent tendencies.

The South Korean heartthrob showcased his versatility after delivering a convincing role that earned him the nickname "the hot villain."

In an interview with local media outlets, Kim Ji Hoon revealed that his character was not in the webcomic but was made for the series.

Upon reading the character's story, the actor shared what he felt like knowing about Park Tae Woo's background and "thought there has to be a reason for what he says and does."

He also considered this one of the most challenging roles he has played so far because most of his scenes are filled with evil deeds.

Apart from the emotional scenes, Kim Ji Hoon also had to do heavy stunts, which included severing his legs.

According to the actor, he finds it significant for Park Tae Woo's "righteous retribution."

"The director believed that 'Park Tae-woo' losing his legs was a fitting consequence of what he did to 'Jeong Gyu-cheol' (actor Kim Jae Uck). The director's hunch worked fantastically."

Kim Ji Hoon Reacts to His Nickname, 'Hot Villain'

Other than heavy stunts and emotional scenes, Kim Ji Hoon's performance gained huge attention and was even named "the hot villain" of K-drama.

The "Death's Game" actor considered it "flattering" but cited how evil Park Tae Woo is.

"I find it incredibly flattering. 'Park Tae-woo' is a bad guy who deserves all the hate, considering how evil he was. Despite everything, people gave me that nickname because they found the character I played attractive. I'm flattered."

The webcomic-based K-drama is Kim Ji Joon's first project in 2024.

Prior to this, he played a cameo in Netflix's "Celebrity."

Kim Ji Hoon also starred in "Love to Hate You" and the hit Netflix series "Money Heist Korea," where he played the role of Denver.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old actor first captivated the viewers with his notable role in Flower of Evil."

Taking on the role of Baek Hee Sung, who was also the character of Lee Joon Gi, viewers were definitely drawn to Kim Ji Hoon's acting range.
