However, fans are not quite happy with her casting. What happened? Keep on reading to know more.

BLACKPINK Jisoo's 'Omniscient Reader' Casting Draws Flak

This 2024, BLACKPINK Jisoo is finally coming back to the acting scene, much to the viewers' delight.

In 2022, the idol-actress made her K-drama debut with "Snowdrop" alongside Jung Hae In. Her new venture was well-received by the public, and fans even want to see more of her.

After two long years, Jisoo is back in the limelight as she was cast in the upcoming series "Omniscient Reader" with Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Soo Bin, Nana and more.

The series tells the story of a young boy who becomes the first-ever person to ever finish a ten-year-old novel, which magically puts him inside the story.

In the series, Jisoo takes on the role of Lee Ji Hye, a physically strong 17-year-old girl who stands side by side with Lee Min Ho's Yoo Jong Hyuk.

Initially, the production received positive feedback from the viewers. Excitement is through the roof for the work as it stars some of Hallyu's biggest names.

However, many fans of the original novel in which the drama was based showed disappointment. Some complained about the production unit's casting, especially Jisoo's.

According to them, it's unreasonable to cast a 30-year-old woman to play a 17-year-old girl. Jisoo, who was born in 1995, turns 30 this January 2024.

BLACKPINK Jisoo's Fans Jump In Defense

In response to the complaints, many BLINKs (BLACKPINK's fans) defended the idol- actress, saying that Jisoo can easily pass as a teenage girl.

Jisoo's timeless visuals receive high praises. Fans also pointed out that Lee Ji Hye is described to look older than her actual age in the story, making it more sense for the artist to play the part.

Moreover, BLINKs also added that many adult Hallyu stars play teenagers, and it's not a new concept in the K-drama scene.

With that said, fans look forward for more updates regarding the drama as well as its upcoming release in the second half of 2024.

What To Expect From 'Omniscient Reader'

Besides its intriguing narrative, the meeting of seasoned stars is a factor that viewers look forward to the most.

Apart from Jisoo, Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Min Ho, the series also stars "Love in the Moonlight" actress Chae Soo Bin, "Alchemy of Souls" heartthrob Shin Seung Ho and After School Nana.

In addition to their high caliber acting, viewers are most curious about their teamwork, especially when "Omniscient Reader" marks their first-ever K-drama together.
