Cha Tae Hyun Apologizes for Issue Concerning Sanitation in 'Unexpected Business 3'
For three successful seasons, the duo showcased their chemistry together with part-timers as they went on the journey of running a supermarket.
Interestingly, the third season featured a new set-up since the team had to embark on a new journey in California, U.S.A.
Unfortunately, amid the entertaining and successful episodes, "Unexpected Business 3" faced issues concerning the restaurant's sanitary condition.
Although the production addressed the issue, Cha Tae Hyun personally responded to the criticisms that the show received.
As obtained by a news outlet, the actor shared his honest thoughts about the situation and acknowledged that the "planning and preparation" in the United States "was very difficult."
Moreso expressed his deep gratitude to the whole team-from production to co-stars and crew-who came all the way to California and worked hard to produce a variety show.
Cha Tae Hyun also took the opportunity to apologize for making viewers "uncomfortable" after watching a particular episode.
"Nevertheless, we would like to express our apologies to the viewers who felt uncomfortable due to our negligence. In fact, I think this American episode left a lot to be desired."
In addition, the actor and "Unexpected Business" Season 3 host regrets not being able to converse in English.
"I felt like I couldn't pay more attention to the residents there than in previous seasons because communication was more difficult than in Korea, so I personally reflected on it after watching the broadcast."
It can be recalled that the tvN variety show faced backlash from viewers after some of the cast members were not wearing masks and proper gear while making food.
However, the production team immediately released a response addressing the issue.
Outlets shared the official statement, acknowledging the opinions sent by viewers.
In a lengthy message, the team apologized for their shortcomings and said they "should have paid close attention to hygiene."
According to them, they "made efforts to thoroughly comply with the complex local hygiene regulations and related laws" in the United States, but "due to the nature of broadcasts, which must summarize events in a short period of time, we could not properly deliver the efforts of the actors regarding sanitary conditions."
