Accusers who were behind Nam Joo Hyuk's bullying accusations are now facing charges. Following the allegations in 2022, the prosecution released an update regarding actor's controversial case.

Individuals Who Accused Nam Joo Hyuk of School Bullying Face Defamation Charges

In a report, the two individuals who alleged Nam Joo Hyuk of bullying have been found guilty of defamation. It was after the Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office determined that the claims against the "Start-Up" star were false.

As a result, they were indicted on charges of defaming Nam Joo Hyuk with false information under the Information and Communications Network Act.

It can be recalled that the South Korean hearthrob made headlines after two individuals claimed that they suffered school violence and harassment because of Nam Joo Hyuk and his group.

At the time, the accusers shared that they'd experienced school violence for six years-from middle school to high school.

The controversy spread like wildfire after a video was sent by the actor's former classmate to former reporter turned entertainment YouTuber and journalist Lee Jin Ho.

The accuser also claimed that Nam Joo Hyuk's voice could be heard in the background and that he joined other students who cornered him to fight.

However, despite the accuser pointing out that it was the actor's voice, the YouTuber noted that Nam Joo Hyuk's face was not even seen in the video.

As for the actor, his agency released a statement responding to the bullying accusations.

Management SOOP cleared Nam Joo Hyuk's name and denied his involvement with the bullying incident.

Per the news outlet, in addition, the label said that the actor was not even present when the incident was filmed.

"First of all, we are clearly stating that the so-called 'sparring' video that was included in this YouTube content has no relation to the actor. Also, it is not true at all that he forced anyone to take part in this so-called 'sparring.'"

In addition, the agency also shared that the first time they saw the clip was at the time when he personally met the accuser.

As for the YouTube channel that spoke about the incident, Managemenbt SOOP pointed out that "these claims were groundless," as the actor took to broadcast interviews with his friends expressing his position that he felt wronged about the alleged school violence.

Where is Nam Joo Hyuk Now?

Following the controversy that almost tainted his career, Nam Joo Hyuk returned in the 2023 webtoon-based K-drama "Vigilante."

It was his last project before enlisting in the military.

Nam Joo Hyuk officially entered the military on March 20, 2023, and was accepted to serve under the Capital Defense Command Military Police Group.

He is expected to return to civilian life in September 2024.
