Go Yoon Jung's small screen comeback "Resident Playbook" will be pushed to a later date. The news came after tvN announced the delayed release of the Hospital Playlist spin-off series.

'Resident Playbook' Postpones Much-Awaited Release to Second Half of 2024

Fans have been on the edge of their seats, looking forward to the upcoming "Hospital Playlist" spin-off. In January, it was announced that "Resident Playbook" will grace the screen in the first half of 2024.

Sadly, after dropping details about the series, the production team received backlash from the medical community, causing adjustments for every part of the project.

On March 21, tvN released a statement announcing that the scheduled premiere of the forthcoming drama "Resident Playbook" will happen in the second half of 2024. They clarified that even though the series is expected to air in the second half of this year, the specific date and schedule of release on primetime are still in discussion.

In addition, apart from tvN, the drama is also expected to air on Netflix to attract more global viewers. Regarding the delay of release, tvN stated:

"There are various reasons, and among them is the issues about the resident doctor strike, which we have taken into consideration."

To recall, the medical drama received backlash from the medical community. It was due to the mass resignation of the medical staff that arose due to the expansion of medical schools.

What We Know So Far About Go Yoon Jung's Medical Drama 'Resident Playbook'

"Resident Playbook" attracted attention as it will be Director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung's next collaboration.

Originally, the drama was scheduled to air in May 2024 as a follow-up to the ongoing trending drama "Queen of Tears."

The series depicts the realistic life of medical staff in the hospital and the friendship between professors and students at a university hospital.

Go Yoon Jung is one of the leads in the drama, alongside rising stars Han Ye Ji, Kang Yoo Seok, Cynthia, and Jeong Jun Won.

However, public opinion towards doctors has recently cooled as doctors have taken collective actions, such as strikes, in response to the government's announcement of a policy to increase the number of medical schools.

It has been said that instead of "Resident Playbook," Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon's drama "Graduation" is scheduled to air next once "Queen of Tears" concludes its broadcast.

What are your thoughts on "Resident Playbook's" delayed broadcast? What are you looking forward to the most in the "Hospital Playlist" spin-off?
