It is indeed a week packed with "Queen of Tears" achievements as the drama once again dominated the Netflix Japan ranking, making it the potential to surpass the popularity of the hit series "Crash Landing on You."

The drama also amassed millions of viewers hours in its third week on primetime and recorded its first double-digit rating.

'Queen of Tears' Potential to Become the Next K-Drama Phenomenon

"Queen of Tears" penned by brilliant writer Park Ji Eun and directed by Jang Young Woo and Kim Hee Won is amassing popularity on the global stage, and already showing signs of becoming the next big K-drama phenomenon.

Since its debut, the series became the talk of the town on various portals and even broke its records every week.

Now that it is about to run on its fourth week, the rom-com series recorded another achievement. Based on the news cited on March 20, "Queen of Tears" secured the third spot in Netflix's Global Top 10 Series in the Non-English category. It climbed four places from the previous week's result.

In addition, it also garnered a total of 22.4 million viewing hours from March 11 to 17. In particular, the weekend drama topped Netflix Japan's ranking beating other big dramas. This indicates another successful K-drama story in the making.

Kim Soo Hyun & Kim Ji Won's Drama Boasts High Rating in Japan

FlixPatrol mentioned that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won's drama skyrocketed to the number one spot on Japan's Netflix TV show ranking just three days after it premiered.

According to Filmarks, Japan's biggest content review site, "Queen of Tears" boasts a high rating of 4.3 out of 5 percent close to "Crash Landing on You" record of 4.5. It has been said that Japanese viewers have left enthusiastic reviews of the ongoing rom-com series.

Meanwhile, Korea Creative Content Agency published a survey in January 2023 revealing that Park Ji Eun's past work "Crash Landing on You," alongside "Winter Sonata," was among the most watched K-dramas by Japanese viewers.

The writer's newest project "Queen of Tears," has already garnered considerable attention from Japanese audiences even before it was released.

As of March 17, "Queen of Tears" episode 4 recorded the highest viewership rating. It garnered a 13.9 percent rating in the metropolitan area and continues to break its own record every week.
