'Queen of Tears' Popularity Skyrockets, Dominates in 68 Countries

The Studio Dragon-produced series "Queen of Tears" has joined the ranks of global hit K-dramas.

According to Flix Patrol, a global OTT content ranking service, since its debut, "Queen of Tears" has been released as a TV series in both English and non-English languages. It is available in various countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, India, Turkey, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.

With its wide range of accessibility, it entered the Top 10 list in a cumulative 68 countries as one of the hottest K-dramas today.

It was announced that from March 18 to March 24, the rom-com series was popular in multiple countries and maintained its spot in the Top 10 in English and Non-English TV series on Netflix.

Primarily, it received much love and topped the ranking in Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

In particular, it remains famous on Netflix Japan, ranking first in the weekly charts for two consecutive weeks.

'Queen of Tears' Mentioned in Multiple Media Outlets in Asia

Adding to the continuous global success of the drama, leading overseas media outlets are also highlighting the "Queen of Tears" craze.

Real Sound, a Japanese entertainment media outlet, reported on March 23, "The love between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won in 'Queen of Tears' is leading the fifth Korean Wave Craze."

The said community even announced that the drama is a hot topic in the local area.

One of the most influential newspapers in Southeast Asia, The Straits Times, and Singapore's largest daily newspaper, mentioned the reasons why the rom-com series is becoming a phenomenon.

They said that it has a dynamic narrative, lead actors chemistry, and talented stars are the main ingredients why the series is hitting back-to-back successes almost every week.

They added that the weekend series garners favorable reviews in every episode, making it worth driving to watch.

Meanwhile, in Korea, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won's drama made history by surpassing "Crash Landing on You" viewership ratings in episodes 5 and 6.

"Queen of Tears" and its stars also occupy the most buzzworthy actors and drama in the recent report released by Good Data Corporation.
