Kim Ji Won and Kim Soo Hyun's "Queen of Tears" marked another achievement as it joined tvN's Top 3 most successful K-dramas in history.

'Queen of Tears' Hits New High Rating After Entering Second Half

On April 7, "Queen of Tears" aired its tenth episode, giving viewers another shocking revelation about its main protagonists Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) and Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun).

The episode broke its own highest viewership rating record. According to Nielsen Korea, the drama's latest episode hit 19% nationwide and 20.9% in the metropolitan area.

Viewership ratings jumped from 15.6% nationwide and 17.2% in the metropolitan area, recorded from episode 9.

'Queen of Tears' Joins 'Crash Landing on You' & 'Goblin' in tvN's Most Successful K-Dramas

Adding to its newest achievement, "Queen of Tears" entered tvN's Top 10 most successful K-dramas in history ranking third on the list. It has now overtaken the 2015 drama "Reply 1988" to achieve the third-highest ratings of any tvN series to date.

At present, "Queen of Tears" has only been bested by the smashing hit dramas "Crash Landing on You" starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, and "Goblin" led by Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, and Lee Dong Wook. The mentioned two series were the only dramas that managed to break the 20 percent mark.

Other high-rated dramas that are on the list are "Mr. Sunshine," "Mr.Queen," "Crash Course in Romance," "Under the Queen's Umbrella," "Vincenzo," and "Our Blues." These series also starred some of the notable actors and actresses in the entertainment industry.

What Makes Viewers' Hooked on Kim Soo Hyun & Kim Ji Won's 'Queen of Tears'

Writer Park Ji Eun, who penned "Crash Landing on You," once again impressed the viewers with her new work "Queen of Tears."

Her series follows the story of Hong Hae In, a chaebol heiress of Queens Group and the CEO of the Queens' department stores, and Baek Hyun Woo, a lawyer. They are married for three years, and on the verge of divorce. It is a work that contains a romance that begins again like a miracle.

The drama continues to rise with each episode, thanks to its narrative that borrows the cliches of popular series such as Cinderella's marriage story, and the battle for succession to a conglomerate, but twists them dramatically.

Adding to the series' charm are the passionate performances of its lead stars Kim Ji Won, Kim Soo Hyun, and Park Sung Hoon, and the strong chemistry of the cast on screen.

"Queen of Tears" already has six episodes remaining, and continues to enjoy global popularity. Attention is now focused on whether the drama will surpass the 20% viewership rating.

Catch "Queen of Tears" episodes every Saturday and Sunday on tvN and Netflix.
