According to reports, "My Dearest" main protagonists are said to have many similarities to those in "Gone With The Wind." Gil Chae (played by Ahn Eun Jin) is the daughter of a noble family who often flirts with other men and plays with their feelings. It has been said that it was similar to the film's character Scarlett.

The male protagonist, Jang Hyun (played by Namgoong Min) opposes war because he does not think they will win, and has no interest in marriage but ends up falling in love with Gil Chae.

His character was also said to be similar to the "Gone With the Wind" male lead, Rhett. Moreover, some scenes in the series were also copied from the film.

'My Dearest' to Possibly Get Sued

For clarification, the "My Dearest" team already addressed the issue before. Screenwriter Hwang Jin Young stated in one of her interviews:

"I felt pressured when writing a drama about romance in war. I read 'Gone With The Wind' to find a way to make the story more appealing and romantic. Watching the movie, the audience doesn't pay attention to war and they only remember the leads' love story. I've never hidden the fact that I got inspiration from GWTW."

Hwang Jin Young also confirmed that most of the characters were inspired by the film and claimed "My Dearest" as a remake of it.

Despite her explanation, netizens were not satisfied with what she said because she only revealed it after the issue arose.

According to the source, there's a possibility that "My Dearest" may get sued for plagiarizing "Gone With the Wind." Baeksang's committee and "My Dearest" team have not yet responded to the said accusation.
