"Chief Detective 1958" star Lee Dong Hwi sparked the public's curiosity after the actor posted a bizarre post on Instagram.
Showcasing what seemed like a doppelganger, singer Chuu shared a series photo on her SNS featuring YouTuber Needmorecash and a mysterious man that somehow resembles Lee Dong Hwi.
Tagging the "Reply 1988" star, the singer mentioned how they looked identical, but the actor replied, saying that it was not him.
Host and television personality Jang Sung Kyu also agreed with Chuu, saying that the actor's "ears have grown a lot."
Interestingly, instead of letting it pass, Lee Dong Hwi re-posted the photo on his Instagram, expressing his insight about it.

"This person is not me. This alien is not me. The second photo is me. If you see an alien, please report him."
In the comment sections, netizens and fans poked fun at Lee Dong Hwi, noting that the mystery man was instead his "doppelganger."
Some even noted that the similarity between the two was surprisingly "weird."
Following his post, Lee Dong Hwi updated his Instagram with a video briefly explaining that he is not doing the ear pose, which was seen in his previous upload. The actor also continued by promoting his current projects, the MBC K-drama "Chief Detective 1958" and his blockbuster movie "The Roundup: Punishment," in which he both played lead roles.
"It's not me. I wasn't trying to express my ears. I was doing the heart pose. So to get everything straight, there's four episodes left of 'Chief Inspector'. It airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST. My OST comes out on May 17. Muyeol Hyung is really cool and nice. Kwangsoo is my friend. I am not handsome. Dongwon Hyung is really handsome. The movie I filmed with him came out on May 29. To thank everyone for the support for 'The Roundup: Punishment,' I will reveal my drawings soon. I did not attend Yoo Byung Jae's birthday party."
