Following his skyrocketing fame, Kang Ki Young receives devastating news about his brother.

Best known for his roles in "The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch" and the hit K-drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," he often made headlines for his top-notch performances; however, this time, the actor and his family are mourning the death of his sibling.

According to reports, the South Korean actor and his family are grieving following the death of his older brother, who passed away on May 15.

The news was also confirmed by his agency, Namoo Actors, who shared that the funeral service is scheduled for May 17.

Kang Ki Young is also named as the chief mourner for his brother, who died at the age of 44.

The 40-year-old actor rarely talked about his family publicly, but when he did, Kang Ki Young always showered them with good words.

Kang Ki Young Grateful for His Parents-in-law

Kang Ki Young married his nin celebrity girlfriend in 2019.

Although the actor is quite private about his family life, their home became a center of attention, especially at the height of the K-drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

Showing a glimpse of his space on social media, netizens lauded Kang Ki Young's house, which resembles an art gallery.

He once revealed that their home is in the same building as the gallery operated by his wife's family.

In an interview with Sports Seoul, the actor said that his house "became a hot topic."

He also expressed how grateful he is for the parents of his wife and plans on "repaying" their kindness in the future.

"My parents-in-law gave us such a good environment early on. That's why I'm working harder with a grateful heart. I should repay them, right? I don't want to call it a debt, but I think I'm taking it for granted."

Kang Ki Young's house boasts a minimalist yet modern structure.

The exterior facade featured a design showcasing a mix of concrete, bricks, and glass.

As for the interior, the couple opted for clean visuals, mixing neutrals with white and beige colors.

Kang Ki Young as Protagonist to Villain

One of the most talked-about stars in 2022, Kang Ki Young is unafraid to portray various characters, whether it's the main lead or the drama's villain.

During his interview with The Korea Herald, Kang Ki Young expressed a sense of achievement when he played the role of the villain, Hwang Pil Gwang, in "The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch."

It was his first time playing the antagonist role, and he shared that he is looking forward to more changes like this.

"I really want to play a character with a gun in his hand. A crime thriller series is certainly a project that I'd like to take part in."

Viewers will see more of Kang Ki Young in the coming months as he lands the lead role in the upcoming movie "New Generation War: Reawakened Man" with Goo Kyo Hwan and Shin Seung Ho.
