Song Seungheon Reveals Shocking Comment from Ex-Girlfriend That Made Him Quit Smoking — 'You're Breath Stinks'

Actor Song Seungheon recently opened up about the unexpected and humorous reason he decided to quit smoking. Appearing on the May 20 episode of the popular YouTube show 'Zzanbro', alongside comedian Kim Young-chul, Song shared a personal story that resonated with many viewers.

During the episode, Song Seungheon raised a question about the limits of content on the YouTube platform. "But even on YouTube, you can't smoke on the show, can you?" he asked host Shin Dong-yeob.

This query sparked a nostalgic conversation about the actor's past experiences with smoking on television.

"I'm asking this because when I was on a sitcom with Shin Dong-yeob in the past, he used to smoke while shooting," Song recalled. "They would broadcast smoking on the show without censoring back then. I believe it was until the late 90s."

Shin Dong-yeob, reflecting on those times, added, "Yeah, I saw a video someone sent me of myself smoking cigarettes on TV, and it felt strange. Now, that's just too strange."

Song Seungheon then transitioned to discuss his journey to quitting smoking, sharing two pivotal reasons behind his decision. The first was a health scare.

"Back in school, I loved working out, especially running. I used to play soccer all day and never felt out of breath. But one day, when I went to a morning soccer club I hadn't been to in a while, I was out of breath after five minutes of playing. That's when I realized that my health had taken a turn for the worse," the actor revealed.

The second and more humorous reason came from his then-girlfriend.

 "So I was already taken aback by my health status. And, on top of that, my then-girlfriend told me,'Hey, you really should quit smoking.' When I asked her why, she said, 'Your breath stinks.'"

This blunt and straightforward comment struck a chord with Song. With a burst of laughter, he added, "I stopped smoking on that very day. Seriously."

The conversation also included another memorable anecdote involving Song and Shin Dong-yeob. Comedian Jung Ho Chul brought up a story from a previous episode where Shin Dong-yeob recounted an incident from Song's early days in the industry.

Shin Dong-yeob recalled offering to light then-rookie Song Seungheon's cigarette. Trying to be polite, Song bent his upper body forward and placed his hands on his back as he reached for the lighter with the cigarette between his teeth.

"It was an unforgettable moment," Shin laughed, playfully imitating Song's awkward posture, causing the studio to erupt in laughter.

Song confirmed the story, explaining, "I was a rookie in the industry and was unsure how to react when such a big sunbae offered to light my cigarette."
