Lee Yeol Eum is among the rising actresses who is gaining the attention of the public due to her appearance in the hit Netflix K-drama "The 8 Show."

In the 8-episode series, she took on the character of Kim Yang, a.k.a. the 4th floor girl who was later revealed as a K-pop wannabe but ended up as a parking attendant. 

Viewers witnessed her character growth at the end of the story. 

However, amid the drama's popularity, Lee Yeol Eum is hounded by various controversies that involve dating rumors. 

Prior to the successful premiere of the webtoon-based K-drama, the actress was rumored to be dating "The 8 Show" director Han Jae Rim. 

Lee Yeol Eum Dating 'The 8 Show' Director Han Jae Rim? 

In August 2023, months after Netflix released "The 8 Show," rumors sparked that a rising star was dating a renowned director. 

A report mentioned that media outlet The Fact broke the news and claimed that the two are dating amid the filming of the then-upcoming K-drama.

At the time, Lee Yeol Eum's agency, Namoo Actors, briefly responded, saying, "It is difficult to confirm because it is the actor's private life."

Other than "The 8 Show," she has worked with director Han Jae Rim on his award winning movie "Emergency Declaration."

'The 8 Show' Director Responds to Dating Rumors With Lee Yeol Eum

As "The 8 Show" is set to hit Netflix globally, director Han Jae Rim responds to the issue surrounding his relationship with the actress, who is 21 years his junior. 

During the press conference, the director recalled his initial reaction upon seeing the news. 

As mentioned by an outlet, he was clueless as to "why such a misunderstanding occurred."

He also shut down rumors and explained the claims regarding their closeness on the set of "The 8 Show."

Han Jae Rim pointed out that he and Lee Yeol Eum were close, but not on a romantic level. 

"At the time of filming, several people attended at once, so there was a separate monitor for each actor. Lee Yeol-eum was enthusiastic about this work, and I think the things I asked and asked, like a "monitor gum," were misinterpreted to the extent that I always asked him not to do it if it was OK."

"The 8 Show" is a thriller mystery K-drama that showcases a survival game between 8 individuals. 

Joining Lee Yeol Eum as the lead stars are Ryu Jun Yeol, Lee Joo Young, Bae Sung Woo, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Moon Jung Hee, and Park Hae Joon.

Often compared to "Squid Game," director Han Jae Rim shared that "The 8 Show" is very different from the Netflix series because the webtoon-based K-drama is a survival game show where death is not part of the challenge.
