Song Yoon Ah, Yoo Sun & Lee Tae Ran Reveal the Struggles of Maintaining Their Low Body Weight
As Hallyu dominated the world, it is no secret to global fans the importance of body weight and maintaining a slim figure in the Korean entertainment industry. It is more relevant to the younger stars who are just crafting their paths in the field.
However, even senior successful actresses are not exempted from these strict standards, as revealed in a recent YouTube video featuring three famous K-Drama actresses.
Top actresses Song Yoon Ah, Yoo Sun, and Lee Tae Ran reunited again and appeared on a YouTube show released on the PDC channel. They discussed the struggles they are facing in managing body weight.
Yoo Sun, who starred in "Criminal Minds" shared that she found it hard to lose 4 kgs that she had to put on after concluding a series. "I was scared there would be no turning back once I gained weight."
Adding to her statement is that, out of fear, she immediately went back to working out.
"SKY Castle" actress Lee Tae Ran also shared about her struggles in preparation for appearing in new works. She said that yoga has always been part of her routine to keep her body fit and in shape, however, the process is never easy.
Despite repeating the same routine, she was grateful for receiving projects as without those, she wouldn't have the motivation to work out.
Song Yoon Ah Admits to Not Eating for 3 Weeks in Preparation for Her New Projects
Song Yoon Ah joined them and shared her methods for staying skinny for her dramas, prefacing it by saying it was really difficult. The seasoned actress confessed to starving herself for about a month in preparation for her new projects.
"I didn't eat anything for two to three weeks at a time,"
She recalled that when she was younger, not eating for one or two days was enough to lose weight fast, but with age, the effects slowed down, so she had to make more effort in order to maintain the right weight of her body depending on the roles she's about to portray.
The actresses mentioned are already in their late 40s or early 50s and still active in the industry. While some see their way of dieting as unhealthy, to others, they might be a sign of dedicated hard work.
