‘Lovely Runner’ Acknowledged As the ‘Best K-Drama of the Year’ By TIME Magazine
"Lovely Runner," starring Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok, has been acknowledged by TIME Magazine as the best K-drama of the year!
tvN's romance drama "Lovely Runner" concluded its broadcast on May 28 and received an enthusiastic response from the viewers for its finale. Despite its completion, the rom-com series was recognition by TIME.
In their published article on May 30, many were captured by its title, "How 'Lovely Runner' Nailed Its Finale to Become the Year's Best K-Drama."

The magazine wrote:
"Even though only half of 2024 had passed, every effort will need to be made to dethrone 'Lovely Runner' from the title of the year's best K-drama."
It went on:
"In a year with many K-dramas that failed to achieve much, 'Lovely Runner' defied expectations. It created something greater by mixing nostalgia, romance, a murder subplot, and emotional anguish spanning time."
TIME further explained that instead of focusing on logical causality, the series emphasized emotional narratives, unfolding a love story that transcended fate, which was completed through three time slips of the characters.
The published article also highlighted the female protagonist's impressive ending, "Im Sol's happy ending was impressive, not only in her relationship with Ryu Sun Jae but also in realizing her dream of becoming a film director exhibiting their mutual love and support."
Apart from the awe-inspiring plots, the article mentioned the disappointment in the depiction of Im Sol's disability as an obstacle that needed to be overcome or cured to achieve the ultimate happy ending.
"Lovely Runner" features the story of Im Sol, a passionate fan devastated by the passing of her favorite idol, Ryu Sun Jae. A miracle happens when she travels back to 2008 and has the chance to change her bias fate.
The rom-com drama has created a craze both in Korea and abroad, and ruled the trending charts throughout its run.
"Lovely Runner" was also hailed as the most -buzzworthy drama for three consecutive weeks, while its lead stars Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon ranked first and second in the most popular drama actors list.
