Yeo Jin Goo talked about his experience filming the action-suspense movie "Hijacking," headlined by Ha Jung Woo, Sung Dong Il, and Chae Soo Bin.
Set in 1971, the film depicts the story of unlawfully seizing an aircraft full of passengers mid-air.
Showcasing an extreme situation between passengers, the crew, and the hijacker, Yeo Jin Goo, takes on his first villain role, playing the character of Yong Dae.
In the story, he was depicted as the hijacker from Sokcho, Gangwon Province. What prompted him to do the unlawful deed was after he experienced discrimination because of his brother, who was accused of being a member of the North Korean People's Army during the Korean War.
Due to this, he had no choice but to hijack a commercial plane and reunite with his brother, who is in North Korea.
Ha Jung Woo Confesses Hitting Ha Jung Woo During 'Hijacking' Filming
In an interview with SPOT TV News, Yeo Jin Goo revealed the unexpected incident during the filming of "Hijacking," among which was an intense scene with co-star Ha Jung Woo.
According to the actor, he was at his height of emotion, especially since his character plays the villain.
"It's a role that involves a lot of emotion, and it's a role that makes you angry. Also, because I was acting in a small space, no matter how peaceful I was, there were many times when I acted close and threatening."
Due to this, there are times when he gets to hit his senior, Ha Jung Woo, but he is thankful that he didn't make a fuss out of the situation.
"I actually hit him a few times. I really acted out. But he understood and said it was okay. Every time I hit him, he gave me a kind look and said, 'It's really okay, hit me.'"
Interestingly, the veteran actor also gave him pieces of advice, especially on how he handles the situation.
"However, we know that you are immersed because we are professionals, but as a trained actor, you should control your emotions even when acting in other scenes, right?'"
