Ji Chang Wook Goes To Mexico To Experience the Local Life in 'My Name is Gabriel'
On June 20, the cast of JTBC's new entertainment program "My Name is Gabriel" attended the media press conference. There, each of them shared their experiences living in different parts of the world to try a unique life, different from the glitz and glamor in show business.
Among the star-studded cast that is receiving anticipation is none other than top actor Ji Chang Wook.
During the press interview, the "Welcome to Samdalri" star shared, "I haven't been on a variety show in a while, so I felt awkward at first. But I got used to it, and I think you'll enjoy the show."
As it is his first variety program appearance again after a long time, the heartthrob addressed the initial pressure he felt while filming the program.
"At first, I didn't feel any pressure because I didn't have much experience with variety programs." He went on, "But once I was on set, I realized how challenging it was. Living someone else's life is not easy, especially when you don't have any information about them. I had to make inferences and figure things out as I went along."
"It was not easy at first, and the work was physically demanding too."
Ji Chang Wook left Korea for Mexico, it was the country he was designated to visit, and lived like a local, where he did farming.

The producer of the show, Kim Tae Ho shared that he carefully selected the countries and characters to match the personalities of the cast members. He added that Ji Chang Wook's words inspired the show's direction.
"Ji Chang Wook said in an interview that good shows come out when celebrities struggle," Kim PD, explained that the program was tailored to the actor's desire.
"My Name is Gabriel" is said to be a unique observational reality show that takes viewers on a captivating journey as celebrities transform into ordinary people living in different corners of the world.
For 72 hours, they will abandon their celebrity personas and embrace the lives of individuals from the global population of 8 billion, all in places where no one knows them.
Apart from Ji Chang Wook, the cast includes Yeom Hye Ran who went to Chongqing, China, Park Myung Soo in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Hong Jin Kyung in Kigali, Rwanda, Park Bo Gum in Dublin, Ireland, Dex in Tbilisi, Georgia, Gavi in Mexico City, Mexico.
"My Name is Gabriel" promises to be an eye-opening experience, exhibiting the diverse cultures and challenges faced by people from all walks of life.
It will start airing on June 21 at 8:50 p.m. (KST) on JTBC.
