Nam Joo Hyuk is set to return to his K-drama after his military discharge, as the South Korean heartthrob is in talks to star in an upcoming drama.
The 30-year-old actor, who is currently completing his mandatory military service, is selected to play the lead role in a dark fantasy K-drama.
In an exclusive report cited by SPOTV News, Nam Joo Hyuk was offered to portray the main character in "Donggung," helmed by "The Devil Judge" director Choi Jung Gyu.
According to his agency, Management SOOP, the label confirmed that the actor "is reviewing the offer," but "nothing has been confirmed yet."
Other than the K-drama heartthrob, officials are also looking into Roh Yoon Seo as his co-star.
As for the actress' agency MAA, the talent label expressed the same sentiment, sharing that he is "indeed in discussions" to join the series but "nothing has been finalized."
Nam Joo Hyuk to Play Ghost Slayer in 'Donggung'
"Donggung" is a dark fantasy K-drama that depicts the story of a ghost slayer who harbors the ability to become a ghost himself.
In addition to this, his weapon, the sword, has the ability to kill other ghosts.
Meanwhile, he unexpectedly meets a court lady at the palace, where different kinds of ghosts reside.
If Nam Joo Hyuk officially accepts the offer, he will take on the character of a ghost slayer named Goo Cheon. An arrogant yet powerful ghost slayer.
As for Roh Yoon Seo, she is offered to play the role of a court lady who can communicate with the ghost.

Nam Joo Hyuk officially enlisted in the military in March 2023 as a military police officer riot squad under the Capital Defense Command Military Police Group.
In the same month, reports mentioned that the actor was appointed as Nonsan Training Center's chief of trainees.
With this, Nam Joo Hyuk is expected to return to civilian life in September 2024.
Prior to his enlistment, the actor's last project was the action thriller K-drama "Vigilante," where he starred alongside Yoo Ji Tae, Kim So Jin, and Lee Joon Hyuk.
Nam Joo Hyuk also faced criticism after he was accused of being a bully by his former schoolmates.
However, a report according to Sports Kyung Hyang cited that the accuser has been found guilty of defamation.
In addition to this, the person was ordered to pay restitution for the damage done to the actor.
As for his return to acting, Nam Joo Hyuk is also in talks to star in another K-drama.
Besides the dark fantasy series "Donggung," he is also selected to play the lead role in the star-studded drama "Here" with Shin Min Ah, Lee Byung Hun, Han Ji Min, and "The 8 Show" actor Bae Sung Woo.
