'Game of Thrones' Coded? 'Queen Woo' Criticized for Excessive Sex Scenes and Weak Plot

The new TVING series 'Queen Woo' has caused a stir as it features a lot of content like sex scenes and nudity with Jeon Jong Seo in the lead role.

Many critics and viewers are not happy about this direction and have compared it to 'Game of Thrones' for prioritizing sensational scenes over storytelling aspects.

During the Goguryeo era, the backdrop of 'Queen Woo's tale unfolds with a widowed queen, portrayed by Jeon Jong Seowho, facing a 24-hour period to solidify her rule by choosing the next king

Despite promising a female-focused plotline, the show has faced backlash for not fully exploring its empowering theme and instead leaning towards excessive nudity and sexual scenes, as noted by certain audience members.

The initial section of Queen Woo was characterized by TENASIA, a known South Korean entertainment source, as having a heavy focus on sexual content and nudity.They raised concerns about the relevance of these scenes and the underlying motives of the director.

According to their analysis, except for one episode, most parts of the series have heavily emphasized nudity, diverting attention away from the historical and political aspects of the show.

During a press conference for the show in which she also acts, Actress Jeong Yu Mi confessed that she found the topless scene to be a burden but defended it as essential to the storyline.

Nevertheless, some critics contend that the excessive nudity throughout the series detracts from its plot and purpose.

Many viewers on platforms such as Reddit have responded negatively to this trend in the direction of the show by expressing their disappointment with its focus on creating shock rather than substance. 

 

 

 

Fans eagerly anticipate the release of Part 2 with only four episodes left to air. They are looking forward to a shift back to the main storyline for added depth and substance beyond the contentious elements.

'Queen Woo' has definitely left a mark; however, it is yet to be determined if it can win over the viewer's hearts again.
