Han So Hee 'Devastated' Over Mother's Arrest But Maintains 'It's an Extremely Personal Matter'

Han So Hee shared her sadness upon hearing the news of her mother's recent arrest through a statement from her agency, 9ato Entertainment, on September 3.

 The agency stressed that the situation concerns Han So Hee's mother and has no connection to the actress.

"The recent news regarding Han So Hee's mother that surfaced yesterday (September 2) is an extremely personal matter concerning her family," the agency revealed in a statement, noting that Han So Hee herself was informed about it through media reports and expressed profound sorrow.

Han So Hee's mother, named Shin, was taken into custody on September 2 for running unlawful gambling sites in various locations throughout South Korea as per police records that have come to light recently, citing her involvement in overseeing 12 illegal gambling spots and online platforms starting from the year 2021 with the aid of "proxy owners" responsible for handling the day-to-day operations.

The agency made it clear that Han So Hee is not linked to any activities and emphasized that the incident has no relation to the actress herself, instead attributing it solely to her mother's actions independently of her work commitments.

They expressed regret for sharing news not related to her professional endeavors.

Han So Hee's mother had faced controversies before this incident occurred as well; back in 2020 when Shin was accused of mishandling lodge funds and in 2022 when she was taken to court for borrowing money from a friend but not returning it as promised by the due date set by the lender's expectations.

During that period,  the management team clarified that Shin utilized a bank account registered under Han So Hee's name to secure the loan without her knowledge.

Han So Hee has chosen to separate herself from her mother's troubles and has clarified that she does not plan to assume responsibility for her mother's debts.

The latest event has prompted a look at Han So Hee's family history. However, the actress stays committed to her work as her agency emphasizes her autonomy from her mother's deeds.
