Myung Se Bin, a well-known South Korean actress, candidly shared the stress of popularity leading to her 2007 hasty marriage and prompt divorce.
The actress, known for her roles in popular television series Part Crane, Into the Sun, and Doctor Cha, opened up about her unhappy experiences in a variety show.
Myung began performing in 1996 and married a well-known licensed practitioner, 11 years her senior, on August 17, 2007.
Five months later, the estranged couple announced their divorce. Korean netizens were taken aback by their decision to end the marriage too soon.
Ultimately, the actress's fans discovered the delayed details, and the director also explained exactly how the partners quarreled.
Myung disclosed the truth that led to the hasty marriage. "While we were getting to know each other, there was an article about our relationship and I couldn't deny the fact that we were dating, so a reporter I trust contacted me for advice, and I was told, 'It's better to just admit it for now," she said.
"At the time, I was scared of it being reported on the news, and although I was young, I think I was pushed into doing it because I felt I had to take responsibility," the actress noted.
Myung said that her marriage for a show was an error that fans pushed her into. After the wedding, she felt distant from her husband, and they had separate lives.
Three years later in 2010, the actress returned to her career with the SBS series Three Sisters after the divorce.
