Chinese actress Tang Wei is back in the headlines, not just due to her film projects but also because of her remarkable life story in showbiz.
Tang Wei, who appeared in "Wonderland" and "Decision to Leave," posted a heartwarming selfie with famous makeup artist Jung Saem-mool on social media this week.
Jung shared a picture of the two together and then praised Tang Wei for being someone he relied on and whom he turned to when he needed a friend.
Despite hitting it big, getting there wasn't easy for Tang Wei. This was not, however, without its difficulties; it was only the beginning of the challenges she would face throughout her education at the Central Academy of Drama, one of China's foremost art schools.
According to a report by Daum, Tang Wei was deemed "too ugly to be an actress" and rejected twice from the acting department. She passed the entrance exam after three years but changed her mind about studying directing again and got in.
Tang Wei has since followed through to have a successful career with films in China and Korea. She married director Kim Tae-yong in 2014, and the two have one daughter.
There was news that the two had a big quarrel recently, but then Tang Wei sent a group photo of the family on social media with a caption that read, "Daddy's big and small lovers".
Tang Wei remains an inspiring figure for many with her dedication to the craft and family life, and she is now a permanent fixture in the Korean film industry.
