Han Ye Seul Opens Up About Facing Disapproval from Ex-Boyfriend's Parents For All the Wrong Reasons

Shin Dong Yup's YouTube program Zzanbro recently featured actress Han Ye Seul where she opened up about her love life, work hiatus and personal history.

The two went on to have an honest talk where Han revealed that she had suffered a lot while trying to win her former boyfriend's family over, before inferring that they were grateful for letting her be happy with Ryu Sung Jae.

Looking back on her 20 years in the profession, Han spoke about the public disputes she has faced but said she had refrained from commenting publicly until now.

"I realize this will bring media attention and speculation. Yes, I am regularly targeted with hateful comments, but I have never spoken about it before," she said.

She mentioned her recent case in passing, stating that her trip to the United States and her strategic expansion were "generally new" in her personal life.

Despite some setbacks along the way, Han stated that she usually avoids projects that last longer than 10 years and that she is constantly changing since adopting her new mindset.

In May, Han entered into a civil marriage with Ryu Sung Jae, a civilian 10 years her junior. She shared that they decided to get married, in a sense, by becoming official.

"I wanted to demonstrate the commitment of our relationship. Obviously, I am very committed... to register our marriage is simply an affirmation we are serious about our relationship," she said.

Reflecting back on past relationships, Han confessed to getting her pride hurt after a former boyfriend's family had specific standards she wasn't living up to.

Han added, "They wanted someone college educated, who came from a stable family, and not in the public eye." Han said that their disapproval left her feeling adrift.

Han further explained that, regardless of what society expects of her husband and herself, at the end of the day, she knows the source of joy in her life is her husband.

"Some may look at the road I traveled and say 'why would someone make that choice?' But finding my other half, that actually feels like a miracle." She then concluded with appreciation for her fulfilling marriage and newfound joy.
