Kim Jae Young was once heavily burdened by the weight of his past, now he boasts a successful career in front of the camera, but like most things that have light, there will also be shade.
Kim, who was born on the 30th of September 1988 in South Korea, weighed nearly 100 kilograms when he was younger.
He had big dreams of being a chef and was an avid fashion enthusiast despite the tribulations of his youth.
After completing his national service, he had lost over 30 kilos and was encouraged by his father to try modelling.

He got his break in 2011 when he was featured on the reality television program "Flower Boy Casting" and dubbed the term "Sexy Charisma," followed by a new love for acting.
Kim made his acting debut two years later in No Breathing with esteemed actors Koo Bock-hee and Lee Jang-suk.
But after spending 2 years as a model at Esteem, which he ended up leaving — it took him another year-and-a-half to get work, and by the course of all this time, he was re-evaluating his career choice.
While Esteem eventually went out of business, Kim tried his hand at auditioning for the 2014 KBS drama "Blade Man." He ended up landing a part despite not being signed with an agency at that point.

He has since starred in many hit dramas and films like My Secret Romance, 100 Days My Prince, and Love in Contract.
October 2023: Kim signed on with Management S, an agency set up by his former Esteem manager.
Away from the court, Kim has opened up about his personal interests. He has said that his perfect match is a hard worker and cheerleader, no matter how she looks like.
He said he would love to get married sometime when he's turn 42 or 43 and that he's okay with marrying a fan as long as she has a great personality.
During his free time, Kim likes to work out, hike with his parents, watch movies, and fish, although he acknowledges that he has yet to catch a fish.
He sees similarities between himself and his character in "My Secret Romance," which resemble parts of the real him.
Kim's love of cinema started with the 2000s Christopher Nolan movie "Memento." He also dropped a hint about enjoying summer weeks over winters.
Kim Jae Young was able to change his life as he never gave up and this has allowed audiences all over South Korea to keep watching him.
