On Wednesday, singer and actor Kim Jae Joong posted on social media about the controversy that has sparked mounting social outrage over complaints about a so-called "self-made" girlfriend.
Earlier this week, rumors were made that an internet user invented a romance with the star as a way to gain attention.
Kim then made a public statement via OSEN, saying that he was confused by the accusations and that "crazy confusion occurred."
"I have seen the pics, but why would anybody think that was me," he said. "Are you kidding? I can barely sleep as it is; how am I supposed to do the dating?"
The drama started when a netizen uploaded photos claiming to show Kim with a female target, prompting suspicions that he was dating a character.
Critics called the photos a transparent hoax after the images were proven doctored.
Kim then said of the matter, "I am serious; if what I said is untrue, I will not stop until I get the divine punishment I deserve. These days, the law is frightening, you know."
"Dating is not a sin," he said, but it is the lying that makes him mad.
Kim then poked fun at the photoshopped images and the designer who created them for not knowing him well enough.
At one stage, Kim said with a laugh, 'They captured neither his hairstyle nor his haircut well."
"I don't like pretty cafes," he added.
Speaking about food, he said, "I like street food or local restaurants," he quipped. "That I would've been suspicious, too, if it was at a cafe & they had noodles instead of rice."
The singer further disclosed that he tracked down the person and stated that the fandom is taking legal action against people who continue to spread false information.
Having made his musical debut with TVXQ in 2003, Kim Jae Joong is a veteran in both the music and acting industries. He is currently starring in the MBN drama Bad Memories Erased" and just wrapped a concert series in Seoul.
Meanwhile, Kim's fans continue to step up to defend his name as the events unfold, quickly coming to his side in the drama of unproven accusations.
