Anderson Cooper left some viewers in disgust after grouping oral sex and his 89-year-old mom, Gloria Vanderbilt, in the same sentence during an episode of his show "Anderson Cooper 360."

In all started when Cooper hosted a 'Review of the Year" 360 episode and contributor Dan Savage said that his favorite part of the year was Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's crazy behavior that included comments he made about his wife and oral sex.

"I love a good cunnilingus joke on the evening news," said Savage in regard to Ford's remarks.

In an attempt to add to the laughter that followed Savage's comment, Cooper thought it would be funny to bring up a segment of his mom's memoir that described her receiving oral sex from a former boyfriend.

"My mom once wrote a romance memoir about men she had dated – and I use that term loosely – and she described one guy she was currently dating - my mom was 85 at the time - as the Nijinsky of cunnilingus. And she made me proofread the book," Cooper divulged. "I said 'mom, I don't know much about modern dance'..." he added.

"Or cunnilingus," Savaged jokingly chimed.

At that point, gears were switched.

The raunchy televised conversation resulted in a lot of criticism on Twitter.

"A new low in journalism from Anderson Cooper and CNN...," tweeted Joe Newby, while Robert Whitemore wrote, "'INDECENT: THIS IS CNN: Anderson Cooper discusses mother's 'cunnilingus' on air."

Others like toddstarnes of Twitter wondered why Cooper didn't get suspended for his crude words.

"Why didn't CNN put Anderson Cooper on 'indefinite hiatus'?" said toddstarnes, referring to MSNBC presenter Martin Bashir's resignation following comments about defecating in Sarah Palin's mouth.

In case you didn't know, Gloria Vanderbilt is apart of the Vanderbilt dynasty who was a socialite beauty that had wild romances in her younger days. She settled down when marrying her fourth and last husband author Wyatt Emory Cooper, Anderson's dad.
