The recent social media activities of K-pop legend BIGBANG's G-Dragon have drawn immense fan and netizen attention and speculation in light of model-turned-actress Jung Ho Yeon's announcement that she and actor Lee Dong Hwi have broken up.
Jung Ho Yeon's agency, Saram Entertainment, confirmed on Tuesday that the actress and model had split after nine years with Lee Dong Hwi.
These two stars were pretty open about their romance back in 2016 and spoke about it often when they did press together, and they're now taking it back to being great colleagues.
The agency did not reveal details of the reasons for their separation, allowing for speculation over the circumstances surrounding their split.
A day after the news about the split was released, G-Dragon was reported interacting with Jung's Instagram, specifically liking some of her posts made on Nov. 25, as per Panchoa.
Korean netizens were soon able to notice that he hadn't engaged with her content leading up to that date.
The spontaneous make-up of an event was very suspicious and opened other questions if G-Dragon even knew about Jung's breakup and was contentedly trying to rub a candlelight.
To add to its mystery, G-Dragon isn't listed as one of Jung's Instagram accounts that she follows, while Jung isn't listed as one that G-Dragon follows.
Fearing his intentions, this lack of reciprocated following has left some fans wondering what he seeks.
The absence of the two stars' direct social media interactions has fueled speculation that G-Dragon is seeking to pursue a relationship with Jung, who recently broke up with actor Lee Dong Hwi.
Netizens wasted no time flooding social media with reactions. For some, to connect Jung's split with G-Dragon's activity on social media was "sensationalism" by various media outlets, who have been criticized for trying to closely link the two cases.
"Is this even good enough to publish?" said one user, while another wrote, "What a stupid article this is.
A few users also mentioned that G-Dragon is notorious for randomly hitting the like button on multiple posts on Instagram for no reason, referring to him as a "like bot" when it comes to the social media platform.
Internationally acclaimed actress Jung Ho Yeon is renowned for her role in the popular Netflix series "Squid Game," which propelled her to global stardom.
Her personal life is still a hot topic especially as she strengthens her modeling and acting career.
On the other hand, G-Dragon is still a huge personality in K-pop for his music and buzz.
A lot of his behavior on social media makes headlines, and everyone likes and post then become fodder for the followers.
