Malaysian actress Sora Ma announced her husband had died without "no illness, no warning." In a heart-wrenching post, the Singapore-based actress revealed her tragedy via social media on Dec. 11, six months after his husband's death.
In a heartfelt post, Ma, 40, revealed her husband died suddenly six months earlier, months before going on to welcome their son Skye.
The baby boy, born in August 2024, was conceived via in-vitro fertilization. Ma, who is a Singaporean business woman, married in 2021, but they held their wedding ceremony the following year.
Bith in English and Chinese, Ma wrote: "I thought I was ready, but the truth is, you're never truly prepared to face something like this."
She said that she had been completely blindsided by her husband dying and had to do this all solo.
There were also the changes that came in the months after her husband died: renovations and moving.
Talking through the trials of grieving, she said the emotional rollercoaster of grief is a learning process that she was learning to manage all alone.
"Grief has its ups and downs, and I've gone back and forth countless times," she wrote. "But I've been learning, step by step, to handle everything on my own."
The actress expressed gratitude to her late husband for the connections he leaves behind, saying his friends and family hold her up continuously during this challenging time.
She also explained that she had not shared her loss with some of her friends in person and hoped they'd realize she dueled in silence.
Ma, best known for her roles in Mediacorp series like This Land Is Mine and Crouching Tiger Hidden Ghost, said she was "going to stay strong for my son.
"She said: "When life took him away from me, it also gave me another life – our baby, Skye," she said. "He is the continuation of our love and the reason I find strength to keep going."
Fans and fellow celebs showered the comments with words of encouragement in response to her emotional post.
Ex-actress Eelyn Kok extended her sympathies via an Instagram comment: "So sorry you have to go through this journey, big hugs. You're a strong, wonderful mama."
