8Days reported that Youcheng believed at first he was suffering from a common cold, but his condition deteriorated, leading to a central nervous system infection.

He died on Jan. 30 at a local hospital, where he later received emergency treatment with no family member present.

The incident comes on the heels of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, 48, recently passing away from pneumonia related to the flu while on a trip in Japan.

As such, these incidences have raised public alarm over the dangers of Influenza A.

Central nervous system infections lead to inflammation of the brain and/or spinal cord, with flu-like symptoms such as fever, serious headaches, and vomiting.

Most are treated easily and quickly, but in more severe cases, it leads to paralysis, dementia, or even death.

Netizens have speculated that Liang may have died from complications from Type A influenza, which also seemed to be what brought Hsu down.

But there is no official announcement yet on Liang Youcheng's cause of death.

The death of Liang has brought the major complications and dangers of the flu back into the limelight.

Such tragedies, it appears, have propped up public awareness around the like of vaccinations and how immediate medical attention after flu-like symptoms can save lives.

Liang, who had also appeared in period dramas like Echo of Her Voice (2024) and My Heart (2021), was next due to star in It Girl In Tang Dynasty.

He frequently portrayed supporting characters such as bodyguards or stunt doubles.

As per The Star, Liang, who was found dead in his apartment on Chinese New Year's Eve, had sent his mother an e-ang pow of 888 yuan ($122) before his death along with a note mentioning it was from the production team - a final message believed to be his.
